Item #: 5016 Here is a very nice D&RGW tin torch can ready to inspect your locomotive engine! It was manufactured by Eagle Mfg. Co. for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. This torch can is in very good condition with no pin holes and is very solid. There are some very minor surface dings and paint wear in spots. There is a custom-made 20" long twisted wire hook attached to the handle for hanging. The torch is marked on the side "D&RGW," and "Eagle" is embossed on the bottom. It is 6¼" tall to the cap top and 8¾" wide with the handle and spout; the base diameter is 4 3/16". Locomotive inspectors used this kerosene torch to inspect parts of a steam locomotive when natural light was inadequate. A cotton wick was stuffed into the spout that led into the kerosene-filled well of the vessel which was then lit. This a great piece to add to your Colorado Railroadiana collection!
